Chisago Lakes Triathlon : Chisago City, MN
The Chisago Lakes Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned multi-distance triathlon held at Paradise Park on Chisago Lake. The swim uses an in-water start with buoy-marked sight lines; athletes are instructed to keep buoys to their right. Swim waves are organized with around fifty athletes per wave.
Distances offered:
- Sprint: 0.25 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Olympic: 0.75 mile swim, 26 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Half Iron: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
The bike course includes rolling hills and several larger climbs. Riders are asked to stay to the left when entering the tunnel. Two bike aid stations are located at mile 25 and mile 47, providing bottle exchange, water, Gatorade, simple carbs and medical supplies. The run course passes through residential streets with community support; run aid stations supply water, Gatorade and simple carbs approximately every 2 miles. Turnarounds differ by distance and are specified on course maps.
Registration and packet pickup are available on the weekend before and the morning of the event; chip pickup is available on race day only. Parking at Chuckie Lindquist Park is extremely limited and reserved for elite athletes. Participants receive a t-shirt, swim cap, finisher medal and post-event food. Race rules include mandatory swim caps, helmets secured before leaving transition, no drafting on the bike, and returning timing chips after finishing.
