Chisago Lakes Triathlon
The Chisago Lakes Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned multisport event held at Paradise Park on Chisago Lake in Chisago City, MN. The swim takes place in the lake with an in-water start and wave sizes of about 50 athletes; buoys mark the route and should be kept to the right. Paradise Park overlooks the swim course.
Course details note rolling hills on the bike with a few larger climbs and a tunnel where athletes must keep left when entering. The run goes through residential streets with community support and contains regular turnaround points by distance. Aid stations are placed on the bike course at miles 25 and 47 with bottle exchange, water, Gatorade, simple carbs and medical supplies. Run aid stations appear every 2 miles with water, Gatorade and simple carbs.
Distances offered
- Sprint: 0.25 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Olympic: 0.75 mile swim, 26 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Half: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
Race logistics include transition area rules, helmet and swim cap requirements, relay chip handoff at the cyclist's bike spot, and a left ankle chip placement. Participants receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, swim cap, age group awards, and post-race food. Awards are given across elite, overall, age group, aquabike and relay categories.
