Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K is an ultra marathon along the Ridgeway National Trail in the Chiltern Hills. The next edition is scheduled for 17th April 2027. The event begins at Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow in Wendover, with the route passing through Ashridge Estate, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill.
The course covers undulating ridgeline and woodland trails and is marked throughout with orange arrows and ribbons. Marshals monitor key road crossings and course checkers patrol during the race. Runners must carry a digital GPX of the route and a paper map is provided at registration.
There are three full checkpoints on the route, located at roughly 14.3 km, 29.6 km and around 42 km, each offering water, noncarbonated drink options, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels and chews, snacks and fresh fruit. Toilets are provided at the start, finish and all checkpoints. Satellite water points may be added in hot weather.
Entry is open to runners aged 20 and over; the event is limited to 400 runners. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Time limit for completion is 9 hours. Required kit includes a mobile phone, GPX route, light jacket or emergency blanket, at least 0.5 L refillable hydration, a collapsible cup and payment method.
