About the race
50K trail ultramarathon through the Chiltern Hills, held on 17 April 2027. The route follows Ridgeline trails and sections of the Ridgeway National Trail, starting from Berkhamsted Castle and finishing at Hampden Meadow in Wendover. The course passes Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Aldbury, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill and includes undulating terrain, ancient woodlands and rolling hills. Navigation is fully marked with orange signage and marshals at key points; runners must also carry a digital GPX route on a watch or phone as a backup. A GPX file and route maps are provided.
There are three full checkpoints at about 14.3 km, 29.6 km and approximately 42 km. Checkpoints contain water, electrolyte drink and gels from Precision Fuel & Hydration, snacks, flapjacks and fresh fruit; satellite water points may be added in hot weather. The race has a 9 hour time limit, course medical cover, chip timing with live results, finishers medal and race photos. Coach transfers are available pre and post event.
Required kit includes a mobile phone, route GPX plus paper map, light jacket or emergency blanket, refillable hydration (min 0.5 L), collapsible cup and payment method. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
