Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Classic is a 50K trail ultramarathon across the Chiltern Hills that starts from the historic grounds of Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow in Wendover. The route follows sections of the Ridgeway National Trail and passes through Ashridge Estate, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill. The current course is slightly long at about 51 km due to local path closures and includes approximately 996m of elevation gain.
The event is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals support navigation at road crossings and busier sections. Runners must carry a digital GPX of the route on watch or phone; printed maps are available at registration. Three full checkpoints are provided at about 14.3 km, 29.6 km and around 42 km. Checkpoints include at minimum water, cola, products from Precision Fuel & Hydration, snacks and fresh fruit. Toilets are available at the start, finish and all three checkpoints.
Entry is open to runners aged 20 or older with no qualifying standard. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. The field is limited to 400 runners and the overall time limit is nine hours. Coach transfers are available pre and post race and refreshments are provided at the finish.
