Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K : event overview

The Chiltern Ridge Classic 50K is an ultra trail race on the Ridgeway in the Chiltern Hills, scheduled for 18th April 2026. The course is listed as 51K with approximately 996m of ascent. The event is limited to 400 runners, has a 9-hour time limit, and is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. The race carries a UTMB World Series index and is run on trail terrain. Entry is priced at £75 (£73 for affiliated runners) and the minimum entry age is 20. Dogs are not permitted.

Route, aid stations and logistics

The route starts at Berkhamsted Castle and finishes at Hampden Meadow in Wendover, passing Ashridge, Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill. The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals are positioned at key points; runners are required to carry a digital GPX route and a paper map as backup. There are three full aid stations around 15km, 29km and 43km offering water, soft drinks, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels, chews, snacks and fresh fruit; temporary toilets are available at the event base and at aid stations. Runners must carry specified kit including a mobile phone, route GPX plus paper map, light jacket or emergency blanket, a refillable hydration system (minimum 0.5L), a collapsible cup and cash or bank card.
