Overview
The Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon is a trail running event following The Ridgeway National Trail in Buckinghamshire. The 8th edition takes place on the 5th of July 2026. The course starts and finishes in Wendover and includes a loop of the Whiteleaf Hill Nature Reserve near Princes Risborough.
Course Details
The route is a half marathon (21.1 km) with 526 m of elevation gain. It follows a stretch of The Ridgeway between Coombe Hill and Whiteleaf Hill and is entirely off-road. The course is described as hilly with numerous ups and downs. It is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons, with marshals at road crossings. The start location is subject to minor change due to local construction works.
Event Information
The start and registration is at the Shoulder of Mutton pub on Pound St, Wendover. The finish is on Hampden Meadow, South St, Wendover. Participants are advised to park at Wendover Train Station, which is a short walk from the event base. The event has a maximum of 350 runners and a time limit of 4 hours.
Facilities and Support
There is one checkpoint on the course, passed twice at 6.7 km and 13.4 km. It provides water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration PF 30 gels, and jelly babies. A bag drop is available at the event base. Portaloo toilets are at the start/finish, with additional public toilets in Wendover and at the train station.
Requirements and Registration
Runners must be aged 17 or older. Entry costs £35 (£33 for UKA affiliated runners). Recommended gear includes a mobile phone, a digital route map, and a soft cup for drinks. Trail running shoes are advised. The event is permitted by the TRA (License No. 7443) and is a UTMB World Series Index Race.
