Chilly Cheeks 5K
Chilly Cheeks is a fall 5K held at Star Ranch in McDade, Texas. The event is one of two annual 5K races at the ranch and serves as an official qualifier for the AANR-SW 5K Series. Participation is limited to 200 runners per race.
The course begins with roughly three kilometers through open pastures and shaded woodland trails. The final two kilometers run on sand and gravel paths between member cottages and cabins. The finish area is at the Star Ranch pool, where participants can cool off and have a light meal from the grill while results are posted.
Event amenities include one guest included with each runner registration, allowance for runners and guests to stay at the ranch for the day, and on-site games and social activities after the race. The race is presented as a destination event at a rural ranch location approximately 30 minutes east of Austin on US Highway 290.
