Chicken Creek Challenge
The Chicken Creek Challenge is a cross country meet held on October 10, 2026 near Mancos, Colorado at Chicken Creek CR 40. The event includes middle school, junior varsity, and high school races on a course located in the Chicken Creek area with parking along the road outside the course.
Race distances:
- Middle school races: 3.5 kilometers
- High school races: 5 kilometers
Racing is organized into gender and level categories for middle school, junior varsity, and varsity divisions. A coaches meeting is scheduled at the finish line area. Team competition and individual entries are part of the meet format.
Entry fees are stated as $150 per high school or middle school team, or $10 per athlete for smaller teams.
Directions from Mancos are provided: turn north onto Highway 184 toward Dolores, drive about 2.5 miles, then turn right onto County Road 40 (Millwood Road). Do not turn onto Chicken Creek Road (CR 41) because that leads to the back of the course. Follow CR 40 until the San Juan National Forest sign, then use roadside parking outside the course.
