Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon
The Chickamauga Battlefield Race Series is a set of road races held on the Chickamauga Battlefield National Park, a 9,000 acre historic site located about 20 minutes from Chattanooga. The series has been hosted by the Chattanooga Track Club since 1980 and features multiple race distances across the same event weekend.
Race offerings include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon with a generous six hour time limit noted for first-time finishers
- 5K
- Junior Marathon with miles accumulated over months and a 26.2 mile finish experience for youth
The course descriptions emphasize scenic, historic terrain that passes through the military battlefield. The 5K is described as a fast, flat course suitable for new runners, walkers and racers seeking a personal best. Event services include multiple aid stations supplying water, Powerade, fruit and first aid, and volunteers support course marking and on-course assistance. The event weekend also includes Civil War enactments and a traditional cannon start as part of its historic theme. Organizers publish training plans, an athlete guide, a spectator guide and race day information for participants and spectators. The series lists accumulated metrics such as decades of races and tens of thousands of finishers, and it notes awards associated with the courses.
