Chicagoland #LightUpMBC Be A Hero Fun Run
The Chicagoland #LightUpMBC Be A Hero Fun Run is a community event on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Settlers' Park in Plainfield, Illinois. The sixth annual occasion centers on people living with metastatic breast cancer, remembrance of those lost, and fundraising for research.
The event program includes a Superhero Hero Launch, a family-friendly one mile Fun Run and Walk, children’s activities, food and refreshments, giveaways and raffles, a Thriver celebration, Hero remembrance, photo opportunities, and other community activities. Organizers share personal stories from people living with metastatic breast cancer and provide opportunities for volunteers, fundraisers, teams, sponsors, or donors who cannot attend.
All net proceeds from the event support metastatic breast cancer research through METAvivor Research & Support, Inc., an organization that funds research focused on stage IV metastatic breast cancer. The organizer states that, unless otherwise specified by a donor, 90 percent of donations and 100 percent of net proceeds from fundraisers after expenses go to research grants.
The event materials note that there is currently no cure for metastatic breast cancer and describe research priorities such as better treatments and longer lives. Information about participation options and event logistics is provided by the event host. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
