The Chicagoland #LightUpMBC Be A Hero Fun Run is the 6th annual community event held on September 20, 2026, at Settlers' Park in Plainfield, Illinois. The event is presented to celebrate people living with metastatic breast cancer, to remember those who have died, and to raise funds for metastatic breast cancer research through METAvivor Research & Support, Inc. Net proceeds from the event support METAvivor's research grants.
The program centers on a family oriented one-mile Fun Run and Walk and includes a Superhero Hero Launch, children’s activities, food and refreshments, giveaways and raffles, Thriver celebration segments, Hero remembrance, photo opportunities, vendor participation, and community gathering elements. Costumes and creative dress are encouraged but not required.
