Event Overview
The Chicago Beer Mile Championships is a track-based event taking place in Chicago at 721 S. Washtinaw Ave. The competition follows a standard format where participants consume a beverage and complete laps around a 400m running track. The event is capped at 200 total entries, with each individual heat containing between 4 and 14 participants.
Race Formats
The event offers several distinct categories for participants:

Rules and Eligibility
Official regulations require all competitors to be at least 21 years of age, and identification is verified at packet pickup. For the standard beer mile, participants must drink one 12 oz beer with a minimum of 5% alcohol by volume before each of the four laps. All consumption must occur within a designated 9-meter transition zone. The event includes specific heats for men and women, as well as elite sections.
Prize money is awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the elite sections, with $500 for first place, $250 for second, and $100 for third.
