Chicago Beer Mile Championships
The Chicago Beer Mile Championships is a track event that features races in which competitors alternate drinking and running over a full mile. The main format follows the beer mile rules: each competitor drinks four beers and runs four laps around a standard 400 m running track, with each beer consumed in the transition area before the next lap. Beer must be in standard cans or bottles no smaller than 355 mL and have a minimum of 5% alcohol by volume. No tampering of containers or aids that speed pouring is allowed. Competitors who vomit before finishing must run one penalty lap after completing the four laps.
The event includes alcohol free options and a Chocolate Milk Mile for those who do not wish to consume alcoholic beverages. Entry will be limited by caps and by the allowed number of entries per race; the overall event is capped at 200 entries and individual races will have between 4 and 14 entries. Prize money is offered to the top three men and women in the elite section with specified payouts for first, second, and third place. Eligibility for prize money requires competing in the elite section. Every competitor must be over 21 years of age and identification will be checked at packet pickup.
