Chicago Beer Mile Championships
The Chicago Beer Mile Championships is a series of one-mile track races held in Chicago in June 2027 at 721 S. Washtinaw Ave., Chicago, IL 60612. The event includes multiple one-mile races and special heats that follow Beer Mile rules.
Races listed include the Chicago Beer Mile, Non Alcoholic Beer Mile, Chicago Handshake Mile, Beer Mile Relay, and a Chocolate Milk Mile. The relay requires a team of four and all participants must be at least 21 years old. Individual entry counts per race are limited to roughly 4 to 14 entries, and the overall event is capped at 200 entries.
Prize money is offered for the top three men and women in the elite section: $500 for first place, $250 for second, and $100 for third. Only competitors placed in the elite heat are eligible for prize money.
Beer Mile rules applied at the event require competitors to drink four beers and run four laps around a standard 400 m track, with each beer consumed in the designated transition zone before its lap. Beers must be at least 355 mL and at least 5% alcohol by volume; no tampering with containers is allowed. Competitors who vomit before finishing must complete one penalty lap after their fourth lap. Every competitor must be over 21; identification will be checked at packet pickup. Designated drivers or public transportation are encouraged.
