MBNA Chester Metric Marathon - 11 October 2026
The MBNA Chester Metric Marathon is the UK’s original Metric Marathon covering 26.6 km. It forms part of the MBNA Chester Marathon weekend and was recognised as the UK's best marathon for three consecutive years. The race features a city centre start and finish and a route that passes Chester’s notable landmarks before heading into the Cheshire countryside.
The route meets the full marathon course and returns to Chester along the banks of the River Dee. Spectators line sections of the course to provide support. The organiser offers preparatory resources before race day including access to training plans, support and advice, and free training runs. Entrants receive a personalised race pack with race number and timing chip sent by post; runners outside the UK need to collect their race numbers from the Help Desk on race weekend.
Additional pre-race services include special offers from sponsors, a social community for runner support, and free runner to runner transfers. On race day participants receive a long sleeve quarter zip technical T-shirt, a bespoke medal and a goody bag with post-race nutrition. The event also provides on-course hydration and nutrition, medical support along the course, cash prizes for top finishers and age-group winners, a runners Help Desk, and access to a tracking website for live progress updates.
