2026 MBNA Chester Metric Marathon
The MBNA Chester Metric Marathon is the United Kingdom's original metric marathon, contested over a distance of 26.6 km. It forms part of the MBNA Chester Marathon weekend and uses a city centre start and finish at Chester Racecourse, Watergate Street, CH1 2LY. The route passes Chester's city landmarks, continues into the Cheshire countryside where it meets the full marathon course, and returns to the city along the banks of the River Dee.
Race services include posted personalised race packs for UK entrants and collection at the race help desk for overseas entrants, on-course hydration and nutrition, medical support, and access to a live tracking website for supporters. Finishers receive a long sleeve quarter zip technical T-shirt, a bespoke medal, and a goody bag with post-race nutrition unless entered as a Green Runner. The Green Runner option removes the medal, T-shirt and goody bag and donates the cost of those items to the event's official charity.
Entry details include a first 200 places special price of £45, standard entry at £55 until 27 September 2026, and a late entry price of £59 from 28 September 2026. UKA affiliated runners receive a £2 discount. The minimum age on race day is 18. Entries are non refundable but may be transferred to another runner; a waiting list is used when the event is full.
