About the race
The 2027 MBNA Chester Marathon takes place on 10 October 2027 at Chester Racecourse, Watergate Street, CH1 2LY, United Kingdom. The event is organised by Active Leisure Events Ltd and is listed as scheduled. The course starts and finishes in the city centre, passes Chester’s notable landmarks, goes out into the Cheshire and North Wales countryside, and returns along the banks of the River Dee. The event is described by the organiser as the fifth largest marathon in the UK, a three time winner of the UK’s best marathon and Racecheck GOLD rated.
It is also the venue for the England and Welsh Athletics Age Group Masters Championships. Runners receive pre‑race support from the organiser including access to training plans, free training runs and a social community on social media. Entrants receive a personalised race pack posted to them; runners based outside the UK must collect race numbers from the Help Desk on race weekend. Transfers to another runner or into RunThrough Race Credit are available but places cannot be transferred to other events or deferred to another year.
Minimum age on race day is 18 and UKA affiliated runners receive a small entry discount. On race day the organiser provides a complimentary long sleeve quarter zip technical top, a bespoke medal and a goody bag with post race nutrition, on course hydration and nutrition, medical support, a runners Help Desk, cash prizes for the top five men and women and for age group winners, and live tracking for supporters.
