2026 MBNA Chester Metric Marathon
The MBNA Chester Metric Marathon is a metric marathon of 26.6 km held in Chester on 11 October 2026. The event is part of the MBNA Chester Marathon weekend and takes place at Chester Racecourse, Watergate Street, CH1 2LY, United Kingdom. The event currently has a waiting list.
The course starts and finishes in the city centre, passes Chester landmarks, and continues into the Cheshire countryside where metric marathon runners join the full marathon field. The route returns to Chester along the banks of the River Dee with supporters lining the course.
Entrants receive pre-race support including access to training plans, free training runs, and a personalised race pack with race number and timing chip sent by post for UK entrants; overseas runners need to collect numbers from the Help Desk on race weekend. On race day finishers receive a long sleeve quarter zip technical T-shirt, a bespoke medal, a goody bag with postrace nutrition, on-course hydration and nutrition, medical cover, and access to a live tracking website. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three men and women and to age group winners.
Entry conditions include a minimum age of 18 and adherence to UK Athletics rules. UKA affiliated runners receive a £2 discount. Entry is non refundable but places may be transferred to another runner through the official transfer process. A Green Runner option removes the medal, T-shirt and goody bag and donates their cost to the event charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
