Chester Kiwanis 5K
The Kiwanis Club of Chester presents the 31st annual Chester Kiwanis 5K at Carpenter Community Park in Chester, New York. The event is a 3.1 mile road race with separate entries for runners and for registered walkers. The registration fee is $30.
On race day registered participants pick up bibs and T shirts in Chester Community Park between 7:30 and 8:30. The course begins just outside the park on Walnut Street. T shirts are guaranteed for early registrants; shirts are available on a first come basis on race day and are not held after the event.
Participants receive post-race refreshments, a full hot breakfast prepared by the Chester Presbyterian Church, ice cream and entry into raffle drawings. The breakfast is free to runners and available for others with a suggested donation. Some raffle prizes have age restrictions.
Race timing is provided with individual on the spot printed results by Mid Hudson Timing. The course is USATF certified, number NY13047JG. Awards include trophies for the overall top three male and female finishers and medals for the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up. Registered walkers who walk the entire route receive a trophy for first place male and female.
All proceeds benefit local and regional charities including high school scholarships, welcome to kindergarten bags, Christmas Toyland, veterans causes, a children’s hospital fund, the Chester Community Food Pantry, the Salvation Army, the March of Dimes and other regional charities.
