17th Chesapeake City Canal Race 5k
The 17th Chesapeake City Canal Race 5K takes place on June 27, 2026 in Chesapeake City, MD. The event is based at Schaefer’s Canal House on Bank Street with race parking provided at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company on Lock Street. Race day registration opens at 7:00 am.
Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association Food Pantry. Donations and race proceeds support the town recycling program.
Registration fees vary by date: $25 for early pre-registration through June 19, $30 for later pre-registration and day of event, and a reduced rate for ages 11 and under. Pre-registration by June 23 at noon guarantees a commemorative shirt; shirts after that date are first come, first serve. There are no refunds and bibs are non-transferable. No dogs are allowed due to insurance liability.
Water and snacks are provided. Timing uses the MYLAPS BibTag chip system; overall winners are scored by gun time while other age groups are scored by net chip time. Results will be posted online during and after the race. Awards include overall male and female gift bags and age group awards for top finishers, plus awards for top walkers.
