17th Chesapeake City Canal Race 5k : June 27, 2026
The event is the 17th annual Chesapeake City Canal Race 5k held in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The race uses Schaefer's Restaurant parking lot on Bank Street for the event location, with race parking at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company lot on Lock Street. The course runs along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
Participants are asked to bring a non perishable food item for the Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association Food Pantry. Donations and race proceeds support the town recycling program, which has been recognized as the top recycling town in Cecil County for fourteen years.
Registration options include a pre registration rate of $25 through June 19, with a $30 rate thereafter and a reduced fee of $15 for ages 11 and under. Pre registration by June 23 at noon guarantees a commemorative shirt; after that date shirts are available on a first come first serve basis. No refunds are offered and bibs are non transferable. Dogs are not allowed on the course due to insurance liability.
The event provides water and snacks for participants. Chip timing is used via the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Awards include overall male and female top finisher recognition and age group awards for both runners and walkers in multiple age categories. Results and photos will be posted online after the race.
