Event Overview
The 17th annual Chesapeake City Canal Race 5k is scheduled for a Saturday in June. The start and finish area is at the Schaefer’s Restaurant parking lot on Bank Street in Chesapeake City, Maryland. Race parking is located at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company parking lot on Lock Street.
Course and Logistics
The course is a 5k route along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. A course map is available online. The event uses a chip timing system. Race day registration opens at 7:00 am. Dogs are not permitted, and bib numbers are non-transferable.
Registration and Amenities
Registration fees increase closer to the race date. Participants who pre-register by a specified June deadline are guaranteed a commemorative shirt; after that, shirts are available while supplies last. All participants and guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for a local food pantry.
Awards and Beneficiary
Awards are given for top overall male and female finishers (based on gun time) and for the top three male/female participants in various age groups, including a walkers category. Overall winners receive a Chesapeake City gift bag. Proceeds from the race benefit the Chesapeake City Recycling Program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
