17th Chesapeake City Canal Race 5K
The 17th Chesapeake City Canal Race is a 5K event held on June 27, 2026 in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The race is based at Schaefer's Canal House on Bank Street and follows a route along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. Race day registration opens at 7:00 am and race parking is provided at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company parking lot on Lock Street.
Participants are asked to bring a non perishable food item for the Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association Food Pantry. Donations and race proceeds support the town recycling program, which has been recognized as the Top Recycling Town in Cecil County for fourteen years.
Timing is provided by R2R Timing using the MYLAPS BibTag system. Amenities listed include water and snacks, and photos and results will be posted online after the event. Awards include overall male and female top finisher prizes scored by gun time, with all other age group awards scored by chip net time; age group and walker awards are also given.
Policies note that dogs are not allowed on the course due to insurance liability, bibs are non transferable, and registrations are non refundable. Pre registration by June 23 at noon is required to guarantee a commemorative shirt; after that shirts are available first come, first served.
