17th Annual Chesapeake City Canal Race 5k
The Chesapeake City Canal Race is an annual running event held in Chesapeake City, Maryland. The event features a course that follows a route along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The start and registration area are located at the parking lot of Schaefer's Restaurant on Bank Street, while designated race parking is available at the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company on Lock Street.

The race utilizes the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System for electronic scoring. Top finisher awards for the overall male and female winners are determined by gun time, while age group awards are based on chip (net) time. Awards are presented to the top three male and female participants in several age categories, ranging from 11 and under to 70 and over. There are also specific awards for the top three male and female walkers.
Participants receive water and snacks as part of the event amenities. A commemorative shirt is provided to those who register by the mid-June deadline; after this date, shirts are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to insurance requirements, dogs are not permitted on the course and bibs are non-transferable. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the local ecumenical association's food pantry. Proceeds from the event support the local recycling program.
