Cheetah Chase 5K
The Cheetah Chase 5K is a pair of pre‑registration events held at Binder Park Zoo on June 27, 2026. The program includes two options: the Gazelle Gallop 5K run and the Sloth Walk 5K walk. Registration is limited to 1,000 participants.
The course runs through the zoo and passes Michigan woodlands and views of the African savanna animal areas. Surfaces on the route include asphalt, brick, boardwalk, crushed rock, and grass. The route contains a mix of hills, tight turns, and flat stretches.
Registration pricing is tiered by date. Early bird, pre registration, and late registration fees apply. Registration fees cover race entry, a performance race shirt, a day admission pass to the zoo, and a first Bell's beer for adults age 21 and over; an alternative option is available for participants under 21. To be guaranteed a race tee shirt, participants must register before June 19.
Early packet pickup is available on the Friday before the event at the Cross Administration Building. Event timing is provided by Mac's Sports Timing and live results will be posted during the event and later online. Awards are given for top overall male and female, top master male and female, and the top three male and female finishers in each age category. Optional donations may be made during registration to support Binder Park Zoo conservation programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
