Event Details
The Cheetah Chase 5K takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Michigan. The event includes two 5K events: the Gazelle Gallop (5K Run) and the Sloth Walk (5K Walk). Registration is pre-registration only, and the total number of participants is limited to 1,000.
Registration and Fees
Registration for both events opens on February 1, 2026. A tiered pricing structure applies:
- Early Bird Registration (Feb 1 - Feb 28): $50
- Pre-Registration (Mar 1 - Jun 25): $60
- Late Registration (Jun 25 - Jun 27): $70 Registration fees include a performance race shirt and a same-day admission pass to the zoo.
Course and Experience
The route is a dynamic course that goes through the zoo. The terrain is a mix of surfaces including asphalt, brick, boardwalk, crushed rock, and grass. The course features hills, tight turns, and flat stretches, with views of the zoo's African savanna exhibit where animals like giraffes, zebras, and antelope can be seen.
Participant Perks
All participants receive a same-day admission pass to Binder Park Zoo. Adult participants aged 21 and over also receive their first beer from Bell's brewery for free (with another option for those under 21). Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the event at the zoo office. Participants must register by the Friday before the race to be guaranteed a race t-shirt.
Race Support
Event timing for both 5K events is provided by Mac's Sports Timing, with live results available during the race. Awards are given for top overall male and female finishers, top male and female masters finishers, and the top three males and females in each age category.
