Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race - Overview

The Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race is a three-day trail running event around Chattanooga, Tennessee, organized by Wild Trails. The total distance is approximately 60 miles, spread over three trail stages on varied terrain in the surrounding mountains.

The stages include:

  • 22 miles on Lula Lake on Lookout Mountain
  • 18 miles point-to-point on the Cumberland Trail along North Chattanooga Creek
  • 20 miles loop on Signal Mountain

Organizers note that the event is not for beginners and expect participants to be able to hold about a 15 minute per mile pace for 20 miles. Strict cut-off times apply; listed target cut-offs are: 20-mile stage - 5.5 hours, 18-mile stage - 5 hours, 22-mile stage - 6 hours.

Wild Trails membership at any level provides a 10% race discount, and the Trail Steward membership level includes free entry into any three races except the Upchuck 50K. Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on the use, protection and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area.
