Chas Foundation 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk
The Chas Foundation event is an 11th annual charity fundraiser that benefits local initiatives to improve access to mental health care in the Hampton Roads area. The event takes place at Towne Bank University in the Harbour View area of Suffolk, Virginia.
The course layout includes a certified out and back 5K and a 1 mile fun run that run along neighborhood streets beside a golf course and pass several lakes. The routes are described as flat and paved. A water stop and course marshals are provided along the route. Easy parking is available near the start and finish areas.
Event amenities and logistics include pre race packet pickup at MoMac Brewery on the Friday before the race and race day packet pickup on site. Race swag includes a short sleeve technical running shirt reserved for the first 250 participants with a guaranteed size if selected by July 19. Awards are offered for the 5K: top three overall male and female, top Masters overall male and female, and top three male and female finishers in the listed 10 year age groups. There are no awards for the 1 mile fun run. Proceeds support Chas Foundation programs and board members will be on site to answer questions about the foundation and its programs.
