About the Event
The Chain of Rocks 6K is a timed run/walk event scheduled for March 22, 2026. The start and finish point is at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge parking lot on Chain of Rocks Road in Granite City, Illinois.
The Course
The 6K course begins at the foot of the historic Chain of Rocks Bridge on the Illinois side. Participants run a short out-and-back section along the Mississippi River before heading onto the Chain of Rocks Bridge itself. The route crosses the bridge west into Missouri for one mile, turns around, and returns downhill to the finish line back in the starting parking lot. The course is described as "fairly fast" and "undulating" with views of the bridge and the river.
Awards and Teams
Awards are given to the top three overall men, women, and non-binary participants. A team division is available for local running clubs; the winning team receives a trophy. Team scoring is based on the combined results of the top three men and top three women from each club.
Beneficiary
The event is organized by Spewak Racing, a non-profit organization. Proceeds from the race benefit the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which supports community programs for youth.
Registration and Logistics
Registration fees for the timed 6K vary by date. Packet pickup is available on specific days prior to the event at locations in Edwardsville and St. Louis; there is no race-day packet pickup.
