The Chain of Rocks 6K is a timed 6-kilometer run/walk held on March 22, 2026. The event starts and finishes at the parking lot at the Illinois entry to the Chain of Rocks Bridge in Granite City, Illinois. The race benefits the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation; the organizer has pledged a $6,000 donation for 2026 and has donated $24,000 over the last four years to local beneficiaries. Results will be posted on the official timer's results page after the event.
Course, divisions and logistics
The course begins at the foot of the Chain of Rocks Bridge, runs a little over a half-mile down to the Mississippi River and back, then crosses the historic bridge into Missouri for about one mile before returning to the Illinois parking lot for the finish. The organizer describes the course as undulating with views of the bridge and the Mississippi River. There is a team division scored by the top three men and top three women from each team; the team with the lowest combined score wins the overall team award. Individual awards include top three overall men, women and non-binary finishers. Packet pickup details will be posted when finalized; there is no race-morning packet pickup. A shirt-only purchase option is available. Registration uses tiered pricing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
