North Downs Way 50®

The North Downs Way 50 is a 50 mile point to point run along the North Downs Way National Trail from Farnham in Surrey to Knockholt Pound on the outskirts of Greater London. The course has approximately 5,600 feet (around 1,700 m) of total climb and follows the first 50 miles of the NDW100. The route passes Puttenham, Guildford, Ranmore Common, Box Hill, Colley Hill, Merstham and Oxted before the final section into Knockholt Pound. About 80% of the route is on trail and 20% on road. There are six fully stocked aid stations and a finisher medal is awarded to finishers only.

The event is the second race in the 50 Mile Grand Slam and is held under a UK Athletics permit. Runners must meet a qualification standard by having completed at least a marathon within that event's cut off time since 1 January 2020. The overall race cut off is 13 hours and there are additional intermediate cut offs at aid stations. Pacers and crews are not permitted and spectators are asked to avoid check points. Medical support will be available and kit checks are carried out at random; mandatory equipment includes a charged mobile phone, water carry capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, headtorch, cup and the supplied GPS tracking unit. A one hour time penalty may be applied for missing mandatory items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
