North Downs Way 50® : event overview

The North Downs Way 50® on 16 May 2026 is organised by Centurion Running. It is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 50 mi (81 km) along the North Downs Way National Trail from Farnham in Surrey to Knockholt Pound on the outskirts of Greater London. Total climb is given as 5,600 ft (1,700 m). The event is the 15th annual running, reflects the first 50 miles of the NDW100, and is listed as the second race in the 50 Mile Grand Slam. The overall time limit is 13 hours and the course is reported as roughly 20% road and 80% trail. The course is held under a UK Athletics permit.

Route, facilities and rules

The route passes Puttenham, Guildford, Ranmore Common, the steep climb to Box Hill, Colley Hill, Merstham and Oxted before the final section to Knockholt Pound. Race HQ is at Farnham Leisure Centre and the finish is in the fields behind Knockholt Pound Village Hall; parking for collectors is at Coolings Lifestyle Garden Centre (a short walk from the finish). There are 6 fully stocked aid stations offering a range of sports nutrition, drinks and hot food at the finish. Pacers and crew are not permitted; spectators are not allowed near checkpoints. A finisher medal is awarded and prizes are given to 1st–3rd male and female and to veteran categories. Mandatory kit is required at all times and missing items may incur a one hour penalty.
