Race for the Future 5K Run/Walk
The Race for the Future is the 30th annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids Dash to benefit the Lee's Summit Educational Foundation, held on October 10, 2026 at Lee's Summit West Activity Complex, 2600 SW Ward Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. The event includes in-person and virtual participation options and a separate youth fun run on the track for children up to sixth grade.
Distances and participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk : 3.1 miles
- LSR7 Student 5K : student pricing for LSR7 students
- Virtual 5K : virtual participation with a race t-shirt and optional step-recording link
- Kids Dash : group runs by age; oldest children run about 200 meters, youngest about 50 meters
Registration fees vary by option and include reduced pricing for LSR7 students. T-shirt availability depends on registration timing; youth shirts run small. The Kids Dash does not include 5K registration; participants must register separately for each event they enter. Prizes are planned for top male and female overall and for top male and female in age groups. The three LSR7 schools with the highest participation will receive grants from the foundation, up to $1,000 per school.
