Race for the Future 5K Run/Walk
Race for the Future is a community fundraising event that benefits the Lee's Summit Educational Foundation. The main in-person event is a 5K course held at the Lee's Summit West Activity Complex, with additional options including a virtual participation choice and a Kids Dash for elementary-age children.
The event includes several registration options, including a student-priced 5K entry for LSR7 students, a Dream Partner virtual participant option that includes an event t-shirt, and Kids Dash entries with or without a t-shirt. Youth shirts are noted to run small.
Prizes are awarded to the top male and female overall finishers and to the top male and female in each age group. The three LSR7 schools with the highest participation totals receive grants from LSEF of up to $1,000 each. The event was established in part to honor the memory of a former LSR7 student.
Packet distribution is organized in advance, with an option to have race packets sent to LSR7 schools and on-site packet pick up available at the Stansberry Leadership Center in the days before the event.
Distances: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
