Race for the Future 5K Run/Walk
The 30th Annual Race for the Future is a fundraising event for the Lee's Summit Educational Foundation held at Lee's Summit West Activity Complex, 2600 SW Ward Rd, Lees Summit, Missouri, on October 10, 2026. The event includes an in person 5K run and walk, a virtual participant option, and a track-based Kids Dash for children up to sixth grade.
Distances and formats:
- 3.1 miles (5K), in person and virtual options
- Approximately 200 meters, Kids Dash on the track for children up to sixth grade
The 5K awards prizes for the top male and female overall finishers and for top male and female finishers by age group. There is a student-specific registration option for LSR7 students. The top three LSR7 schools with the highest participation will receive grants from the foundation, up to $1,000.
T-shirt and registration notes: registrations received by September 28 will receive a t-shirt when that option is selected. Youth shirts run small and participants may consider sizing up. The Kids Dash can be added to a 5K registration; some Kids Dash options include a t-shirt while others do not, and all Kids Dash participants in the no t-shirt option receive a participation ribbon.
