Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot
The Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot takes place in November 2026 in Cedar Rapids, IA. It is a Thanksgiving morning 5K run held on downtown streets and the Cedar River Trail. The event is chip timed and includes fun run and kids categories as well as general runner and walker participation. The published course time limit for the 5K is 1 hour 20 minutes.
Participants receive commemorative event gear with a runner's choice of a long sleeve shirt or a fleece pullover. Donutland donuts are provided at the finish line. Add on finisher medals are available and there is a fee to have medals mailed if not picked up after the race.
The event supports Best Buddies, an organization focused on social and economic inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall in the chip timed category. Age groups start at 10 and under and continue in five year increments up to 70 and over.
Logistics notes published for participants include packet pick up at Lindale Mall, street parking with possible delays due to route closures, no gear check on site, headphones allowed though not recommended, no dogs, and strollers allowed for walkers and joggers only with parental waiver requirements.
