Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot
The Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving 5K held in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa, using city streets and the Cedar River Trail. The event is chip timed; the 5K course has a time limit of 1 hour 20 minutes. A kids dash is also offered.
Packet pick-up is posted about two weeks before the race and takes place at a nearby store next to Maurice’s with the closest entrance near Von Maur and Cheddar’s Kitchen. Packet pick-up is also available on race morning, though a short wait may occur. Participant gear includes a runner’s choice classic t-shirt or an optional thin-tec soft polyester pullover. Donutland donuts are available at the finish line.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group for the chip timed category. Age divisions begin at 10 and under and extend through 70 and over. Results from this event are included in the nationwide Thankful Turkey leaderboard.
Additional event notes: runners and walkers may participate; headphones are allowed but not recommended; strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers only and must start in the back; no dogs; there is no gear check; all water stations provide water. Volunteer roles include water stations, check-in, and course marshaling; volunteers receive an event shirt.
