Cave Spring Arts Festival 5K & 1M
The Cave Spring Arts Festival features two distinct running events through the historic town of Cave Spring, Georgia. Participants can choose between two distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The 5 km course is a USATF-certified route that begins in front of Historic 1848 Fannin Hall and the local outdoor swimming pool. The path is primarily flat with some rolling hills. It travels through the town, passing by the Georgia School for the Deaf and various residential neighborhoods, before concluding in the town square. The 1 mile event is open to both runners and walkers.
Registered participants receive a race T-shirt which provides free admission to the Cave Spring Arts and Crafts Festival and the local 1.5-acre spring-fed swimming pool. After the race, finishers are offered free hot packs. Awards for various age categories include hand-crafted ceramic plates, mugs, and medallions created by a local craftsman.
Proceeds from the event support educational programs and historical preservation. The surrounding area offers access to several historic sites, including 18th-century school buildings, a train depot, and various structures on the National Register of Historic Places. The town is located near the trailheads of the Pinhoti Trail and features several antique shops and local dining options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
