About the race
The Caty Gittner Memorial Scholarship 5K Run and Walk is a community event held on October 11, 2026 at Stony Creek Metro Park in Shelby Township, Michigan. The event offers an in-person 5K (3.1 miles) run and walk plus a Virtual Supporter division. Registration opens June 23, 2026 and closes August 31, 2026; the registration fee is $35.
The event honors Caty Gittner and supports the Caty Gittner Scholarship Fund of Rochester Community Schools. It emphasizes remembrance and community connection and welcomes families, friends, colleagues, and dogs. Included with registration are an apparel swag item (a t-shirt if registered by September 15; registrations after that date receive a non-sized swag item), chip timing, post-race snacks, and on-site activities geared toward families and friends.
Packet pick up is available the evening before the event and on the morning of the event. Stony Creek Metro Park is part of the Huron Clinton Metroparks and requires a vehicle pass; a daily pass costs $10 and can be purchased at the park gate, and an annual pass is also available.
