Cathedral Caverns Trail Run
The event is a trail race at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, AL, with two distance options:
- 5K
- 15K
Both races include a cave segment in the final 1.2 miles that is an out and back 0.6 mile section wide enough for two way traffic. Runners pick up a glow stick at the turnaround and the cave will have decorative lighting. The cave maintains a year round temperature of about 58F. Typical outdoor temperatures for race day are listed as a low near 44F and a high near 67F.
The 5K and 15K fields are each capped at 300 runners. Aid stations on course will offer water, sports drink, cola, pretzels, M M s and similar items. This is a cupless event; participants must carry a hand held bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for 5 dollars.
All registered entrants receive a tri blend race shirt and a finisher medal. Age group awards use these categories 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus. The published cutoffs are 1 hour 15 minutes for the 5K and 2 hours 30 minutes for the 15K. Cave tours begin after the race so cutoffs are enforced.
