Cathedral Caverns Trail Run
This event takes place at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, AL and offers two trail race distances.

Both routes include a final segment that runs through the cave. The cave portion is a 1.2 mile out and back section consisting of two 0.6 mile legs; runners pick up a glow stick at the turnaround and the decorative lighting inside the cave is left on. The 5K route begins with about 0.9 mile on gravel or paved road before entering single track to allow runners to spread out.
Aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, cola, pretzels, M&M's and additional items. The organizer operates the event as a cupless race; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase for five dollars at registration.
Field sizes are limited to 300 runners for each distance. All registrants receive a tri blend race shirt and a finisher medal. Cutoffs are set for each distance and cave tours are scheduled after the race, so the event follows strict time limits. There are no refunds, credits, or transfers and shirts or medals are not mailed to absent registrants.
Packet pickup is available at the Running Lane store at 2407 Memorial Parkway SW Suite 1, Huntsville, AL, and on race day at the park parking area tent. Volunteers who work designated shifts receive entry into future RunningLane events as described by the organizer.
Average race day temperatures are reported as a low of 44F and a high of 67F while the cave maintains about 58F year round. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
