Cathedral Caverns Trail Run
This event offers trail races at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, AL. Races on the course include the following distances:
- 15K
- 5K
The course begins in a valley with surrounding mountains and fields. The final 1.2 miles of both the 5K and 15K run through the cave as an out and back 0.6 mile segment that allows two way traffic. Participants pick up a glow stick at the turnaround and decorative lighting is on inside the cave. The cave temperature is steady around 58F while typical race day temperatures range from about 44F to 67F.
Aid stations are placed on course and provide water, Gatorade, Coke, pretzels, M&M's and similar items. The event is a cupless race; participants must carry a hand held bottle, pack or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase for $5.
Each race is capped at 300 runners. All finishers receive a t shirt and a finisher medal. Packet pickup is available the Friday before at the Running Lane store in Huntsville and on race day at the park under the parking-area tent. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
