12th Annual Catch-A-Pig 5K
The Catch-A-Pig 5K is an out-and-back event held at the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail William Street Trailhead in Bel Air, Maryland. This event supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties. The race features a chase format where different groups of participants start at varied intervals.
The following distance options are available:
- 5 km running race
- 5 km youth run (Piglets)
- 1 km walking course (Bacon Stroll)
- 5 km dog walk
The race structure involves young runners under the age of 13, known as piglets, who receive a three-minute head start. Adult runners attempt to pass at least one piglet before reaching the finish line. Additionally, participants designated as wolves start seven minutes after the main group. If all wolves pass a runner, that runner is excluded from a special prize drawing.
The Ma & Pa Trail serves as the primary course for both the running and walking categories. Participants may bring dogs as long as they are registered for the event and remain on a leash at all times. All proceeds from the registrations are directed toward local youth club programming.
