Event overview

The Catch-A-Pig 5K & Bacon Stroll takes place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Bel Air, MD, at the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail William Street Trailhead. The event is the 12th annual edition and is held on an out-and-back course along the MA & PA Trail.

Distances and event types

  • 5K - Catch-A-Pig adult race
  • 5K - Piglet 5K (kids run)
  • 1 mile - Bacon Stroll (walk)

Format, entry and other details

The race uses a "chase" format: young runners in pink "piglet" shirts receive a three-minute head start. Adult runners who pass at least one piglet before the finish are entered into a special drawing for prizes. A small group called "Wolves" gets a seven-minute late start; if all Wolves pass a runner, that runner loses eligibility for the special drawing. Runners under 13 may serve as piglets and receive a free pig t-shirt.

Entry fees listed on the event page include $32.80 for the Catch-A-Pig 5K, $27.50 for the Piglet 5K and Bacon Stroll, $11.60 for the Dog Walk option, and a listed fee for the Wolves category. Catch-A-Pig is open to ages 13-99; Piglet is open to ages 6-12; Wolves are open to ages 14-18. Registered dogs may join if on leash and paid registration is completed. Net proceeds after costs support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
