Catch-A-Pig 5K & 1K Bacon Stroll
The Catch-A-Pig event is the 12th annual running and walking event held at the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail William Street Trailhead in Bel Air, MD. The main running course is an out-and-back along the MA & PA Trail. All net proceeds after costs benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties.
The event uses a chase format. Young runners in pink "piglet" shirts take a three minute head start. Adult runners who pass at least one piglet before the finish are entered into a special prize drawing. A small group of "wolves" begin seven minutes after the piglets; if all wolves pass a runner, that runner becomes ineligible for the drawing.
Children under 13 may serve as piglets and receive a free pig t-shirt. Dogs may join on the dog walk if registered and kept on a leash; registration for dogs is listed at ten dollars.
Event types include:
- Catch-A-Pig 5K
- Piglet 5K (kids run)
- Bacon Stroll one mile walk
- Dog walk registration
- Wolves participant category
Age limits apply for specific events. The course and event structure focus on the chase format, youth participation, and fundraising for local Boys & Girls Clubs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
