Castle Trails: Sandhurst to Bodiam
Trail Run Explorers offers a free community trail run through the rolling countryside around Sandhurst and the River Rother valley. The circular route is approximately 10.25 km (6.4 miles) with about 163 m (535 ft) of elevation, covering rural trails, field paths, tracks and undulating countryside. Bodiam Castle appears at the route midpoint.
Participants can choose between two options. A guided option is led by an experienced England Athletics Leader in Running Fitness at a relaxed, social pace with regular regrouping; walking the steeper climbs is permitted and the run is organised as a community activity rather than a race. An independent option allows participants to follow a supplied GPX file at their own pace; the GPX will be shared ahead of the event.
England Athletics insurance applies only to runners who remain with the organised led group. Those who leave the guided group and follow the GPX independently are completing the route under their own direction and responsibility and are not covered by that insurance. The event is free to attend.
Location details note the meeting point near the junction of Back Road and Bodiam Road at Back Rd & Bodiam Rd, Sandhurst, Cranbrook TN18 5JY, UK, with Gills Lap Carpark nearby. Parking is limited and paid; mobile signal may be limited so bring coins for parking machines. No spectators are listed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
