About the race
The Castle to River Run is scheduled for October 25, 2026 in Garrison, NY. The event includes multiple distances and serves as a fundraiser for The Friends of Philipstown Recreation, a 501c3 organization that supports recreation programs and facilities in Cold Spring, Garrison, Nelsonville and Continental Village, NY.
Distances offered:
- 1/2 Marathon through Hudson Highlands State Park to the Hudson River
- 5K loop using dirt single trail and grass, with a couple of hills
- Kids fun run 3/4 mile on the recreation center grounds, race day registration is $5
The 1/2 marathon course mixes single track, double track, dirt road and some paved sections. Trails are mostly runnable with some technical sections and several hills. The 1/2 marathon passes Osborn Castle and follows the Castle driveway with special permission granted only for the race; only registered runners are allowed on the Castle and Forest Farm Road property during the event and spectators are not allowed on those sections.
Aid support for the 1/2 marathon is a single aid station accessed twice near mile 5.5 and mile 8 offering water, sports drink and basic food items; there is no aid station for the 5K. Parking and event logistics are centered at the Philipstown Recreation Department at 107 Glenclyffe Drive. All entrants receive a race t shirt; signing up by October 4 guarantees a shirt in the chosen size. Refunds are not offered except if the organizers cancel the event, in which case refunds exclude the non refundable service fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
