Castle Hills Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
The 14th annual Castle Hills Turkey Trot is a neighborhood running event at Lake Avalon Park in Lewisville, TX. The event features two distances: a 5K Run/Walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run. Children aged four and under may participate free of charge. Registration fees apply for other participants.
The event raises funds for local and international relief efforts. Over the prior thirteen years, donors have contributed $415,000 to support feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, housing the homeless, caring for orphans, providing clean water, supporting abuse survivors, and rescuing sex-trafficked victims.
Race shirts are limited and not guaranteed. Packet pick up is scheduled the day before the event at Lake Avalon Park. The event is held outdoors rain or shine, and no refunds will be provided for evacuations due to severe weather. Results are posted online after the race and chip timing is used; participants should run or walk the distance they registered for and notify the timing team if they change races to avoid incorrect results.
Awards are given on race day for overall male and female in each distance, plus age-group awards. Age categories include 0-9 Turkey Wings, 10-14 Pilgrims, 15-19 Cranberry Crazies, 20-29 Thundering Turkeys, 30-39 Hot Trotters, 40-49 Thanks Guzzlers, 50-59 Butterballs, 60-69 Sweet Potatoes, 70-80 Turkey Jerkys, and 80+ Drumsticks.
