Carrowkeel Mountain Race

The Carrowkeel mountain race takes place in County Sligo. It has a 10 km distance with 300 m of elevation gain. The event difficulty is rated as moderate. The route is fully marked, and GPS devices are not allowed.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring the following items to the race: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or equivalent. Runners must also have the means to carry all the kit. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalized on the day, depending on conditions.

Registration and Location

Registration opens and closes at the MayFly Inn in Ballinafad Village. All runners must register there. The parking location is also Ballinafad village. There is a 2 km walk or jog from the registration point to the start line, as parking on the access road is not allowed.

Participation and Entry

Entry costs €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250 participants. Entry opens on June 15th, 2026, and closes on June 19th, 2026. The event is part of the North West League. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
