About the race
The Carolina Reaper Challenge takes place July 17, 2027 at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, SC. The course uses an approximately 2.6-mile paved loop on a 240-acre property that was once a golf course, featuring rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls and riverfront views.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon - 5 laps on an approximately 2.6-mile loop
- Marathon - 10 laps on an approximately 2.6-mile loop
- 50K - 12 laps on an approximately 2.6-mile loop
- Relay - 12 laps for teams of 2 to 4 runners
Each lap has a 45 minute cutoff; chip timing records lap splits and live results. Aid is provided at the start/finish with snacks (pickles, cookies, chips, pretzels) and beverages (water, cola, ginger ale). The event is cup-less, so participants must bring their own hydration vessel.
Packet pickup is on site at the Upstate Race Series tent. Parking is in the old driving range area about 150 meters from the start/finish; parking is paid during registration at five dollars. An Athlete Village and a 60 by 120 foot tent are provided near the finish for staging and gear; runners may bring 10 by 10 canopies. Restrooms are located at the start line. Dogs are allowed on a short six foot leash. Finishers receive a medal; the event also offers custom bibs, a race tattoo, giveaways, photos, music and post-race gathering.
