About the race
The Carolina Reaper Challenge is a looped running event held at Riverwest Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina (2959 New Easley Hwy). The course is a paved 2.6 mile loop that runs through a converted golf course with rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, riverfront views, and areas of shade.
The event offers multiple distances and a relay option. Laps are counted for each distance and lap splits are recorded using timing chips issued at packet pickup. Each lap must be completed within 45 minutes.
Distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) - 5 laps
- Marathon (26.2 miles) - 10 laps
- 50K (about 31 miles) - 12 laps
- Relay (50K) - 12 laps, teams of 2–4 runners
Support and logistics include an athlete village with a 60 foot by 120 foot rental tent at the finish area, space for personal canopies and chairs, and tent staging between the start and finish. Parking is in the old driving range area, approximately 150 meters from the start/finish; athlete drop-offs use a nearby side lot that also serves spectators and shorter-distance participants. Participants should note a caution when crossing the median at New Easley Hwy near a local animal boarding facility.
Aid stations provide snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips, and pretzels, plus water, cola, and ginger ale. This is a cup-less event; participants must use their own hydration vessel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
