Event overview
The Carolina Reaper Challenge takes place on July 18, 2026 at Riverwest Preserve, 2959 New Easley Hwy, Greenville, SC. Proceeds and donations support the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. Registration prices listed for the main events are $50 for the 50k, $40 for the half marathon, and $30 for the 5-mile and relay entries.

Course and format
The course uses a paved 2.62 mile loop on a former golf course inside the 240-acre Riverwest Preserve. Features along the route include rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, riverfront views, and shaded sections. A bell signals each 45-minute lap window; participants must complete each lap within 45 minutes. Timing chips with lap splits and live results are provided at packet pickup.
Logistics and services
An aid station at the start/finish offers snacks (pickles, cookies, chips, pretzels) and drinks (water, cola, ginger ale). The event is cup-less; participants must bring their own hydration vessel. Parking is in the old driving range area about 150 meters from the start/finish with a designated drop-off zone and limited spaces. The Athlete Village is located between the start and finish; runners may bring a 10x10 canopy, cooler, and chair. Included with registration are a finisher medal, custom bib, event tattoo, giveaways, race sticker, complimentary photos, music, and a collapsible hydration cup sample.
Awards and policies
Top three overall male and female finishers in the Half Marathon, 50k, and Relay receive trophies. Age group awards are given for 1st through 3rd places across multiple age categories. Transfers and distance changes are allowed; race shirts sell separately. No refunds or deferrals are offered unless the event sells out.
