Carolina Reaper Challenge - Riverwest Preserve, Greenville, SC
The Carolina Reaper Challenge is a loop-based running event held on July 18, 2026, at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. The event includes multiple distance options and a relay format, and race entry covers park access for participants.
Distances offered:
- 50k - 12 loops
- Half Marathon - 5 loops
- 5 Mile - 2 loops
- Relay - team of 2 to 4 runners, 12 loops total
The course runs on an about 2.6 mile paved loop on a former golf course. Route features include rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, riverfront views, and areas of shade. The athlete village and staging area are located between the start and finish lines.
Timing is chip based with lap splits and live results. Each loop has a 45 minute maximum; participants must complete laps within that limit. Aid is available at the start/finish with snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips, and pretzels, and beverages including water, cola, and ginger ale. The event is cup-less; participants should bring their own hydration vessel.
Additional details: packet pickup with timing chip is provided, parking is in the old driving range about 150 meters from the start/finish with a designated drop-off zone, and 10x10 canopies are allowed in the athlete village. Awards include top three overall trophies for selected distances and age group medals. Finishers receive a medal and event giveaways; photos and a post-race gathering are provided.
