Event overview
The Carolina Reaper Challenge is a running event on July 18, 2026, at Riverwest Preserve in Greenville, SC. Proceeds and donations support the Upstate Running Club youth team. The event offers multiple distance options and a team relay. Registration includes a finisher medal, custom race bib, event tattoo, giveaways, a race sticker, complimentary race photos, chip timing with lap splits and live results, and park entry.
Course, logistics and awards
The course uses a paved loop of about 2.6 miles on the former golf course at Riverwest Preserve, a 240-acre site with cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront views. Runners must complete each lap within a 45-minute cutoff. Aid is located at the start/finish and provides snacks (pickles, cookies, chips, pretzels) and drinks (water, cola, ginger ale). The event is cup-less; participants should bring their own hydration vessel. Parking is in the old driving range area, approximately 150 meters from the start/finish, with a designated drop-off zone. An athlete village is located between the start and finish; 10x10 canopies are allowed. Age-group awards and overall trophies are given: top three overall male and female in the half marathon, 50k, and relay; age-group medals for first through third place with a shipping option.
