Carolina Reaper Challenge
The Carolina Reaper Challenge takes place on July 17, 2027 at Riverwest Nature Preserve, 2959 New Easley Hwy, Greenville, SC. The event uses a paved 2.6 mile loop on a 240 acre former golf course with rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, riverfront views, and shaded sections.

- 50K twelve loops or split across a relay team of up to four
Each lap follows a strict 45 minute cycle and must be completed within that 45 minute window to continue. There is one aid station at the start and finish area that serves each lap; there is no aid out on the loop. This is a cup less event, so participants should bring their own hydration vessel. Available snacks include pickles, cookies, chips, and pretzels; available hydration includes water, Coke, and ginger ale.
Participant setup is at a 60 by 120 foot athlete village adjacent to the start and finish, where runners may set up canopies and leave belongings between laps. Parking is in the old driving range area about 150 meters from the start and costs five dollars paid during registration. All finishers receive a medal.
The race offers chip timing with live results, custom bibs, a custom race tattoo, giveaways, race stickers, and professional photos. Awards include trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and age group medals in 15 age categories. The event supports the Spartanburg County Foundation and counts toward the Upstate Road Series and Upstate Ultra Series. Registration opens 2026-09-01 and closes 2027-02-01; main distance fee fifty dollars, relay fee thirty five dollars. Entries are final; transfers and distance switches are available.
