Carolina Reaper Challenge 50k
The Carolina Reaper Challenge takes place on July 18, 2026 at Riverwest Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. The event is part of an Upstate Race Series weekend and supports the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. The course runs on a paved loop of about 2.6 miles through the 240-acre preserve, passing rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront areas.
Distances:
- 50k: 12 loops
- Half marathon: 5 loops
- 5 mile: 2 loops
- Relay: 12 loops for teams of 2 to 4 runners
The event uses a lap format with a bell that signals every 45 minutes; each lap must be completed within 45 minutes. Chip timing records lap splits and live results. An aid station at the start/finish offers snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips and pretzels, plus water, Coke and ginger ale. The event is cup-less so participants must bring their own hydration vessel.
Logistics note: parking is in the former driving range area about 150 meters from the start/finish. An Athlete Village between the start and finish provides a staging area where participants may set up 10x10 canopies and store gear near the course. Registration includes a finisher medal, custom bib, event tattoo, giveaways, stickers, complimentary race photos and music at the post-race area. Registration also covers park entry.
