Carolina Reaper Challenge
The Carolina Reaper Challenge is a multi-distance running event held at Riverwest Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina on 07/18/2026. The preserve covers about 240 acres and the course uses a paved 2.6 mile loop on former golf course paths. The loop passes rolling cart paths, wooden bridges, waterfalls, and riverfront views and includes shaded sections.
The event offers multiple distance options and a relay format. Runners complete repeated loops to reach each distance. Each lap must be completed within 45 minutes. Timing chips and lap splits are used to record performance. An aid station is located at the start/finish area and provides snacks such as pickles, cookies, chips, and pretzels, plus water, Coke, and ginger ale. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own hydration vessel.
An Athlete Village is set between the start and finish areas for staging and recovery. Participants may set up a 10x10 canopy and bring coolers and chairs. Parking is in the old driving range area approximately 150 meters from the start/finish with a designated drop-off zone near the staging area.
