Carnegie Carnival and Carnival Frolic 13.1
Carnegie Carnival is a fundraising Mardi Gras style celebration that benefits the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. The event takes place in Downtown Decatur, Alabama on February 6, 2027. The community event began in 2012 as the area’s first Mardi Gras style celebration and emphasizes art, creativity, family activities, and downtown revitalization.
A full day of themed activities culminates in the Carnegie Carnival Parade. The parade includes crewes, floats, a bag of throws, and live music. Voting for carnival royalty is part of the event program and proceeds from voting support the Carnegie Visual Arts Center.
The Carnival Frolic 13.1 mile run is an annual race held as part of the day. The race starts the day’s activities and is followed by Carnival family events and an evening parade. The overall program brings together parade elements, candidate voting, family-oriented attractions, and local arts promotion in a downtown festival setting.
