Event overview
The Carnival Frolic is part of the Carnegie Carnival in Downtown Decatur, Alabama, on February 14, 2026. The event benefits the Carnegie Visual Arts Center and is presented alongside a full day of Carnival activities. The race set includes a half marathon with individual and team relay options and a separate 5K.
Race details
The half marathon course is USATF certified and runs through Decatur’s historic districts, along the Tennessee River, and through Point Mallard Park. Relay teams may include up to four members. There is a 3 hour 30 minute cut-off for the half marathon.

- 5K out-and-back on the Frolic course
Participants in the half marathon and 5K receive shirts, carnival swag, and finisher items; half marathon finishers receive medals and there are awards and cash prizes for overall half marathon winners. Post-race refreshments and a celebration at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center include beignets, a sample of red beans and rice, and one free mimosa or cold beer. Online registration is available through February 12, 2026, with in-person late registration and packet pick-up at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center during Carnival weekend.
