Event overview
The Carnegie Carnival Frolic takes place as part of the Carnegie Carnival in Downtown Decatur, Alabama on February 14, 2026. The event benefits the Carnegie Visual Arts Center and is part of a full day of Mardi Gras themed activities that include a parade and family events. The Frolic course is USATF certified and runs through Decatur’s historic districts, along the Tennessee River, and through Point Mallard Park.
Race details
The event includes multiple distance options:
- 13.1 miles (half marathon) individual
- 13.1 miles team relay, up to four members per team
- 5K individual, run out and back on the same Frolic course
All half marathon individual participants receive a race shirt, carnival swag, and a finisher medal. Relay teams receive shirts, carnival swag, and team finisher medals. 5K participants receive a race shirt, carnival swag, and a finisher surprise; the 5K finish line will offer Mardi Gras donuts and beverage products. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to overall half marathon winners, and additional awards will be given for 10-year age groups. A post-race celebration for finishers will be held at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center with beignets, a sampling of red beans and rice, and one complimentary mimosa or cold beer. Online registration is available through February 12, 2026, with in-person late registration and packet pick-up offered at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center up to Carnival weekend.
