Carnival Frolic 13.1 and 5K : Decatur, Alabama
This event offers road races on a USATF certified course in Decatur, Alabama, with a route that passes through historic districts, along the Tennessee River, and through Point Mallard Park. Distances offered include:
- 13.1 miles individual race
- 13.1 miles relay team, teams of up to four participants
- 5K individual race
Entry fees listed for the events are $55.00 for the half marathon individual entry, $30.00 for a half marathon team entry, and $25.00 for the 5K entry. Packet pick-up and in-person late registration are handled at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in the days before the event.
Participant items differ by event: half marathon individual finishers receive a race shirt, carnival swag, and a finisher medal; relay teams receive shirts, carnival swag, and team finisher medals; 5K participants receive a race shirt, carnival swag, and a finisher surprise. The 5K finish line will include Mardi Gras donuts and beverage options such as Gatorade and Pepsi products.
Awards include cash prizes for overall half marathon winners and additional recognitions for 10-year age group winners. A post-race celebration at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center provides beignets, a sampling of red beans and rice, and one complimentary mimosa or cold beer for finishers.
