Carmel Valley Trail Race
The Carmel Valley Trail Race is held in Gonzales Canyon Open Space in Carmel Valley, San Diego. The 13th annual event starts and finishes at Solana Ranch Park on the east end of Gonzales Canyon, with flatter sections at the start and finish and the main elevation gains located in the middle of the courses.
The event offers multiple course distances:
- 10 Mile
- 10K
- 5K
The 10 Mile and 10K courses include a locally known steep section called "Puke Hill." The 5K course is described as remaining flatter. Organizers note that coastal scenery can be present while trail conditions may feel similar to a mountain race.
Entry is limited to 300 runners due to new park guidelines. The 10K and 5K distances are Championship Qualifying events. Packet pickup occurs on October 8, 2026 at Injinji HQ, 6975 Flanders Drive, San Diego, CA 92130, and on October 9, 2026 at Fleet Feet San Diego, 5980 Village Way, San Diego, CA 92130.
Solana Ranch Park has limited onsite parking at the neighboring elementary school. Most parking is on surrounding streets and is generally a five to ten minute walk to the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
