Carmel Valley Trail Race
The Carmel Valley Trail Race is a trail running event in Gonzales Canyon Open Space in San Diego that uses Solana Ranch Park as the start and finish location on the canyon's east end. The layout gives a flat start and finish with the elevation gains concentrated in the middle of the course.
Distances offered include:
- 15K

Course surfaces are dirt single track, dirt service road, and areas of sand; course descriptions list terrain as 100% dirt for the measured routes. Total elevation gain varies by distance, from about 144 ft up to 885 ft. A locally known climb called "Puke Hill" appears on some longer courses, and several routes are out-and-back or two-way out-and-back.
Aid provision and time limits vary by distance: aid stations are listed from none up to two, and course limits range from two to three hours depending on the race. The event notes a participant limit of 300 runners based on park guidelines.
