Carlton Daze 5K Run/Walk
The Carlton Daze 5K Run/Walk takes place in Carlton, Minnesota, on July 24, 2026, with the start and finish located near 90 Chestnut Avenue. The chip-timed 5K route passes through the center of Carlton and a scenic stretch of Jay Cooke State Park via the Willard Munger State Trail. The course includes two water stops. Runners are asked to line up at the front and walkers behind; walkers are required to walk only.
The event is part of the Carlton Daze community celebration and features a historic fire truck leading the 5K, a post-race display for photos, and cupcakes after the race. The race shirt design for the year highlights the fire truck; registration fees include a shirt, with a $10 reduction available for a no-shirt option. Registering by July 15 guarantees a t-shirt size; shirts after that date are first-come, first-served on race day, with a later pickup option at Big Frog Custom T-Shirts in Hermantown if needed.
Awards are presented immediately after the race. Medals are given to the overall top three men and women in both walking and running divisions for ages 16 and older, and to the top three boys and girls in the running division ages 15 and younger. Top three men and women are also posted by age group: 12 and under, 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. A gift card giveaway follows the awards; last year more than $1,000 in gift cards was awarded. Post-race refreshments include bottled water and fresh fruit. Proceeds benefit the Carlton Area Chamber of Commerce and its community and member initiatives. All registration fees are non-refundable.
