Carlsbad 5000 event overview
Carlsbad 5000 is a weekend of running events held along Coast Highway 101 in Carlsbad, California, and is branded as "World's Fastest 5K." The weekend includes multiple individual 5K road races for different age and ability divisions, a non-competitive people's race for joggers and walkers, an elite invitational, and a long distance challenge made up of four consecutive 5K races.
The course is an out-and-back on Coast Highway 101, described as flat and fast with ocean views, palm trees, and a finish beneath the Carlsbad sign. The course is USATF sanctioned and certified. The event also features a Health and Fitness Expo and post-race activities including a beer garden with live music and other entertainment.
The All Day 20K consists of four back-to-back 5K races to total 20 kilometers. Registered All Day 20K participants receive a bib, a premium item and medals, and exclusive access to a pre-race and recovery zone with massage and recovery equipment, food and hydration, private bathrooms, and a secure gear check.
Junior Carlsbad offers races for children aged 4 to 12 at 1 mile or half mile on the official course. Guardians may receive a companion bib. Junior registrations include a race shirt, finisher medal, post-race treats such as chocolate milk, and race photos and results.
