Carlsbad 5000
The Carlsbad 5000 is an annual road race held in Carlsbad, California, typically in April. The event centers on individual timed 5K races on a flat out-and-back course along Coast Highway 101. The course is USATF-sanctioned and certified, runs along the oceanfront with palm trees and beach views, and finishes near the official Carlsbad sign.
The weekend includes additional race formats and on-site activities. A Health & Fitness Expo and a post-race beer garden with live music are part of the event experience. Race registration generally includes a premium race shirt, a finisher medal, race photos and results, and age-group or event-specific items.
Event formats and participant options:
- 5K races for open, masters, and non-competitive participants.
- All Day 20K, four consecutive 5K races totaling 20 kilometers.
- Junior Carlsbad, kids 1-mile and 1/2-mile races for ages 4 to 12.
- Elite Invitational and other competitive divisions.
The All Day 20K offers a designated pre-race and recovery zone with massage and recovery equipment, food and hydration, private restrooms, and secure gear check. Junior Carlsbad entrants receive a race shirt, finisher medal, and post-race treats; guardians receive a companion bib to accompany children on course.
