15th Annual Carlisle Downtown Mile

The Carlisle Downtown Mile is a point-to-point race held on a 1-mile USA Track and Field certified course on High Street in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The course starts at the Subway Car Wash near the corner of High and Orange Streets and concludes near High Street and Court House Avenue. Quarter-mile markers are placed along the route to help participants track their progress.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Employment Skills Center, supporting adult education and training programs such as literacy skills, high school equivalency diplomas, and workforce development. Participants can choose between non-competitive and competitive heats:

  • 1 Mile Just For Fun Run / Walk: A non-competitive heat for those who wish to walk or jog the course without official timing.
  • 1 Mile Age Group Races: Competitive, chip-timed heats on the certified course for various age brackets.
  • 1 Mile Team Challenge: Teams of 3-5 members compete in specific categories like Healthcare, Education, or Corporate.

Competitive individual awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over. The Team Challenge recognizes the top three teams per category based on the combined times of the fastest three runners. Participants aged 13 and under in the fun run receive medals, while the same age group in the timed mile must place in the top three to receive an award.

The event features several post-race activities, including a beer garden for participants aged 21 and older and a Kids Alley with games and activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
