Carl Sandburg Athletic Booster 5K
The Carl Sandburg Athletic Booster 5K is an inaugural community 5-kilometer run/walk held on September 13, 2026, in Orland Park, Illinois. The event takes place at the 153rd Street Metra Station and is open to the public. Proceeds support senior scholarships and purchases of equipment and technology for the school Athletic Department that are outside the regular budget.
Registration for the event opens July 1, 2026, and closes August 1, 2026. Two registration categories and fees are listed: a public entry fee of $40.00 and a student entry fee for Districts D135 and D230 of $25.00. Pre-race packet pickup is available Tuesday, September 8 through Saturday, September 12 during store hours (Mon–Fri 10:00–18:00, Sat 10:00–17:00) at The Human Race Sports, 15148 LaGrange Road, Orland Park. Race day packet pickup time is to be determined.
Awards include overall 5K recognitions for the top male and top female by gun time, and 5K age group awards by net time for the top three males and females in the following groups: 10 & Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 & Over. Teams compete for Sandburg Sports Team Coach Wish List Funds with prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second, and $150 for third.
