Carl Sandburg Athletic Booster 5K Run/Walk
The inaugural Carl Sandburg Athletic Booster 5K takes place in Orland Park on September 13, 2026. Proceeds support senior scholarships and purchases of equipment and technology for the high school Athletic Department that are outside the regular budget.
The event offers a 3.1 mile run/walk. Registration categories and fees listed by the organizer include a public entry and a reduced student entry for district students.
Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled Tuesday, September 8 through Saturday, September 12 during store hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–18:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00 at Human Race Sports, 15148 LaGrange Rd, Orland Park. Race day packet pickup time is to be determined.
Awards include overall 5K results for the top male and top female by gun time, and age-group awards by net time for males and females in the following divisions: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 & over. Teams represent sports programs and compete for Coach Wish List Funds awards for the 2020-2027 school year with monetary prizes for first through third place.
