Carkeek 12 Hour

The Carkeek 12 Hour is an in-person and virtual trail event organized by Endless Trails. The 2026 in-person edition is scheduled for October 24, and the virtual option runs October 1 to 31. The event marks the 20th annual running of the Carkeek format.

Two time-based options are offered:

12 hour run
6 hour run

The course uses a 1.93 mile loop with approximately 436 feet of elevation gain per loop. Terrain includes rolling trails, steep stairs, and a few flatter sections, with views toward Puget Sound. Loop counting is done manually with star stickers and the organizers make bibs by hand. The field is capped at 50 runners to limit impact and preserve an old-school, low-key atmosphere.

The event emphasizes low-impact practices: paper products are not used and aid and raffle items largely come from local Seattle businesses. Proceeds support local trail work and Endless Trails operating costs. Costumes are encouraged since the event occurs on Halloween weekend; prizes are awarded for costumed runners, pets in costume, best group costumes, and for those who wear costumes for many laps.
