Captains 5K
The Alumni Society of Christopher Newport University organizes the Captains 5K on the Christopher Newport University campus in Newport News, Virginia. The course runs through campus and highlights new additions, familiar landmarks, and campus landscaping.
Distances offered:
- 5K on the Christopher Newport University campus.
- Captains Dash one-mile run/walk for children of any age.
- Virtual Captains 5K remote participation; race packet mailed by March 26, 2027.
Registration opens on September 14, 2026. Fees and registration closing dates for each event are:
- Captains 5K: $35, registration closes November 19, 2026.
- Captains Dash - 1 Mile: $20, registration closes February 25, 2027.
- Virtual Captains 5K: $45, registration closes March 22, 2027.
A post-race celebration called the Blue & Silver Bash will take place on the lawn at the Alumni House following the race. The event is open to alumni, students, faculty, neighbors, friends, family, and others who want to be on campus that spring morning. Participation is presented as a way to support and strengthen the Captain community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
