Event Overview
The Captain Seth Mitchell HERO 5K Run and Walk is an annual event held in Loveland, Ohio. This is its 17th edition. All proceeds from the event benefit the Capt. Seth Mitchell Memorial Scholarship through the Loveland Schools Foundation, honoring a service member who was killed in action.

Location and Course
The in-person event is held in downtown Loveland. Participants assemble at the Linda J Cox parking lot, near Loveland Canoe and Kayak. The 3.1-mile course begins and ends at Nisbet Park in Historic Loveland, starting and finishing on a bike trail next to the Linda Cox parking lot.
Registration and Fees
Registration for the 2026 event opens on March 31, 2026. For the in-person 5K Run/Walk, pre-registration fees are $20 for youth (18 and under) and $25 for adults. Late or race-day registration is $25 for youth and $30 for adults. A $5 discount is available for youth participants. The Virtual 5K registration fee is $15 for adults and $10 for youth.
Event Details
The event features chip timing with disposable bib tags, requiring no return. Awards are given to the overall male and female runners, and age-group standings are posted online. Post-race refreshments are provided. A commemorative challenge coin is included with registration. There is no early packet pickup; all pickups occur on the event day. A no-refunds policy is stated.
