Capital to Capital 5K
The Rotary Club of Kingston, NY is sponsoring the fifth Capital to Capital 5K on October 18, 2026 to raise money and awareness for the Ulster County Veteran Service Agency. The event commemorates the Burning of Kingston in October 1777, when more than 2,000 Kingston refugees fled to the Town of Hurley after British soldiers burned the city.
The event is a hybrid 5 kilometer event offering both in-person and virtual participation. In-person participants walk or run along a new segment of the O and W rail trail from Uptown Kingston to School House Lane in Hurley. Virtual participants may complete a 5 km (3.1 mi) distance on a trail or in a park in their hometown or elsewhere during the virtual window from Saturday, Oct. 3 through Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.
Entry fees and awards are specified in advance: children 12 and under enter free, adults pay $25, awards are presented to the top male and top female finisher, and the top three finishers in each age group receive awards. The first 100 registrants receive a hand-crafted commemorative Rev250 5K medallion. To receive an official finisher certificate, entrants must log their time on Zippyreg.com by Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.
Check-in and late registration take place at the O and W Trail Head parking lot on Washington Avenue in Kingston opposite Ulster Savings Bank. An awards ceremony is held at the Hurley Heritage Museum. UCAT provides bus service from Hurley back to Kingston. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
