Capital City Día de los Muertos 5K Run/Walk/Roll
Hosted by Footprints of Michigan at Granger Meadows Park in Lansing, this event marks a community celebration of Día de los Muertos. Participants are encouraged to wear traditional face paint, flowers, and other attire associated with the holiday. The event is presented as a family activity and includes both an adult 5k and a short kids run.
Registration opens June 1, 2026. Pre-registration for the 5k closes October 16, 2026; the kids run accepts registrations through October 24, 2026. Pre-registration for the 5k includes a Dia de los Muertos T-shirt for registered participants. After the pre-registration date the 5k fee increases and T-shirt availability is not guaranteed.
Packet pick up is at the Footprints of Michigan office at 3010 W. Saint Joseph St., Lansing, MI 48917 on Friday, October 23, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results will be available live during the event.
Awards and participant items: all 5k participants will receive a finisher medal and a T-shirt; kids in the 300-yard run receive a medal, bib, and goodie bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
