Event Overview
The Canyon City Classic is a running event held in Azusa, California. It includes several distance options: a 5K Run/Walk, a 10K Run/Walk, youth versions of both those distances for participants aged 17 and under, and a shorter Cutie Fun Run (also referred to as a 1K). Proceeds benefit Azusa's youth sports programs and local non-profit organizations. The event is paired with a Community Festival featuring vendor and sampling booths, interactive experiences, and musical entertainment.
Course Details
Both the 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) courses are described as flat and fast. The start is across from Memorial Park on Orange Avenue. The route goes through tree-lined streets, passes historic Zacatecas Park, and offers views of the Azusa foothills along North San Gabriel Avenue before finishing near Orange Avenue and Hollyvale Street. The 10K course is two loops of the 5K route. The shorter Cutie Fun Run covers the perimeter of Memorial Park and finishes in the same area. Hydration is available on course, and electrolyte drinks are provided at the finish. Medical support includes a roving first aid team.
Logistics
The event takes place on a Saturday in May. Packet pick-up, which includes a T-shirt and a finisher's medal, is available the day before and on race morning. Ample parking is noted around the park and neighboring streets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
