The Around Canvey Island Trail Run

The Around Canvey Island Trail Run is a timed athletic event held on Canvey Island. The course consists of a single anti-clockwise loop around the island, starting and finishing at the Waterside Farm Leisure Centre. Participants navigate an adventure-style route that primarily follows the sea wall, utilizing the King Charles III England Coast Path.

The terrain features a mix of single-track grass paths, concrete sections, and gravel trails. During one specific segment, participants have the option to run along the lower promenade to view local artwork, provided weather and tide conditions are favorable. The event is self-supported, and participants are required to carry a mobile phone and appropriate layers of clothing.

A designated "check pint" is located at a pub approximately 10 km into the route. At this station, runners can check in with timers, receive a provided drink, and refill water bottles. The course is monitored by a relay team of tail walkers and joggers to ensure all participants complete the loop.

Registration and number collection take place at the leisure centre, where locker facilities are available. The event imposes a 4-hour time limit for completion. For those traveling by public transport, the start location is approximately an 18-minute walk from Benfleet Railway Station. Free on-site parking is also available at the leisure centre.
