The around Canvey Island Trail Run
The event on 25 Oct 2026 is a timed, self supported anti-clockwise loop around Canvey Island that starts and finishes at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre. It is open to over 18s only. Non-TRA members and UKA members pay a £2 levi. TRA permit number 7711 is listed as TBC. Any children who come to spectate must be supervised by an appropriate adult at all times.
The majority of the route follows the sea wall and mixes single track grass paths with wider concrete and gravel trails along the King Charles 3rd England Coast Path. There is an optional section where, if weather and tides allow, participants may use the lower promenade to see local artwork; choosing the upper or lower section carries no penalty. There is a pub check point approximately 10 km into the route where runners can check in with timers, collect a drink provided by the organiser, and refill water bottles. The event uses timers and is a timed result; a four hour cutoff applies.
At registration participants collect race numbers, pins and a bottle of water. The organiser advises downloading the GPX file and following the route on Strava. Lockers are available but the organiser does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen items. Participants must use the traffic lights and official crossing points in the first and last kilometre or risk disqualification. A relay team of tail walkers and joggers will sweep the course.
Travel notes: free car parking is available depending on football matches. Benfleet Railway Station is about an 18 minute brisk walk away, shorter by bicycle. Toilets are provided inside the leisure centre, at the Lobster Smack and at public facilities by the south island play area. The venue address is Waterside Farm Leisure Centre, Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island SS8 9RA. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
