Mount Torlesse Station : Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series
Mount Torlesse Station is Event 3 of the Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series on 12 July 2026, held just northeast of Springfield at the base of Mount Torlesse. The courses use high-country terrain with rocky tracks, open tussock slopes, sheltered pockets of mānuka and beech forest, creek crossings, long climbs and exposed ridgelines that reveal views across the Mount Torlesse Range and the Canterbury Plains back toward Christchurch. Weather may alter the exact course.
Distances and elevation options:
- Slope Sprint: 6.3 km, 135 m elevation
- Midi Mountains: 11.1 km, 525 m elevation
- Epic Endurance: 21.3 km, 1020 m elevation
Compulsory gear requirements vary by course but include a fully waterproof jacket, mobile phone, suitable pack and personal medication. The Midi and Epic courses require thermal clothing, headwear and on-course nutrition. The Epic course also requires an emergency survival bag and recommends capacity for 1000 ml of drink. Participants may be subject to random gear checks and failure to carry compulsory gear can result in withdrawal.
Aid stations are provided for the Midi and Epic courses only; each offers PURE electrolyte drink and plain water. No cups are provided on course so runners must carry their own hydration system. The event village is located on Rubicon Road, Springfield on private land and food will be available from a fundraising group for cash payment. Spot prizes are awarded on event days and series prizes follow completion of all four events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
