Mount Torlesse Station, Springfield : 12 July 2026
This event is the third in the Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series, located about five minutes northeast of Springfield at the base of Mount Torlesse. The course runs through high-country terrain with rocky tracks, open tussock slopes, pockets of mānuka and beech forest, and several creek crossings. Long climbs and exposed ridgelines provide views across the Mount Torlesse Range and the Canterbury Plains toward Christchurch.
There are three course options with different distances and elevation gains:
- 6.3 km, 135 m elevation, shorter route including singletrack and riverbed sections
- 11.1 km, 525 m elevation, joins the longer course for a major climb then technical descent
- 21.3 km, 1020 m elevation, includes extended farm road approach, multiple climbs and forest sections
Aid stations are available only on the 11.1 km and 21.3 km routes and provide electrolyte drink and plain water. Drink will be available at the finish for all competitors. Participants must carry compulsory gear appropriate to their course, for example waterproof outerwear and a mobile phone for all courses, and additional thermal layers, food, and minimum water amounts for longer routes. Gear requirements and course details may change with weather and will be confirmed before the event.
The event village is at Rubicon Road, Springfield, on private land accessible only on race day. A local fundraising group will sell food on site and accepts cash only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
