About the race
Cannock Chase Trigs is a fell race organised by Mercia Fell Runners scheduled for Sunday 10 January 2027. The course is approximately 26.5 km with 540 metres of ascent and is classified FRA category CL. The route is mainly on tracks and paths and requires runners to visit a sequence of checkpoints in order.
The course visits, in order, Milford Common (GR 975 210), Rifle Range (995 180), Moors Gorse (025 151) where there is a compulsory outward cut-off at 65 minutes, Castle Ring (043 128), Moors Gorse again (025 151), Glacial Boulder (980 181) and returns to Milford Common (975 210). There will be a two minute time out both ways at Moors Gorse to allow for a safe road crossing. No drinks are provided at the Moors Gorse checkpoint.
Entry is by pre-entry only, with entries opening in mid October, a deadline of Monday 6 January 2027 and a limit of 175 competitors. Entry fees are £13 for FRA members and £15 for non-members. Registration is located at Milford Hall Cricket Club, Main Road, Milford, ST17 0UL. The start is east of Dora Rose nursing home on Milford Common, about a ten minute walk from registration; parking is not permitted at the start.
SI electronic timing will be used and runners will be allocated dibbers at registration. There is a £40 charge for any dibber lost or not returned. FRA mandatory kit required is full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, map, whistle and compass and checks will be carried out. Results will be posted on the Mercia website within 24 hours.
