CandleLight 12/24 Hour Ultra and Relays
The event is a timed endurance running event at Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush, NY. Participants may choose 12 hour or 24 hour individual options, an overnight 12 hour relay, or a 24 hour relay. The course is a loop of about 1 mile, mostly paved with approximately 150 yards of wide, smooth trail. The first half of the loop trends downhill and the second half trends uphill.
Runners complete as many laps as they can within the chosen time frame. One complete lap qualifies as an official finish. Walking, resting, and napping on course are allowed, and there is no minimum required time on the course. A single fully stocked aid station will be available, and participants may also set up personal aid at the course with coolers, tents, chairs, or other supplies.
Relay rules allow flexible team composition and rotation. For the 12 hour relay teams may include two to four members; 24 hour relay teams may include two to six members. Each relay team receives a BIB attached to a BIB belt that serves as the baton. Team captains register teams and add members to the roster. There is no minimum distance requirement per team member and teams control order and rotation.
A personalized bib option is available for an additional fee. Messages must be PG rated in every language and longer messages may use smaller font. The race is presented by The Greater Rochester Running Club (GRRC). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
