Cancer Chomp : University of Florida
Cancer Chomp is an annual community event held at the UF Cancer & Genetics Research Complex, 2033 Mowry Rd, Gainesville, FL. The program combines a timed 5K run/walk with family activities and on-site vendors. The 5K course, known as "The Boot," travels around Lake Alice on the University of Florida campus.
Event features include a Kid Zone, mini therapy horses, Gator mascots, and a performance by the UF Band. The event site hosts local vendors and offers participant shirts and limited swag bags for early check in. Shirts are guaranteed for online registrants who register before the online deadline. Same-day registrants may receive a shirt while supplies last. Swag bags are available to the first 200 people who check in.
The event operates as a fundraiser for brain and spinal tumor patients and families at UF Health. Funds raised support lodging, gas cards, medication costs, and medical equipment. Online registration closes in advance of the event and same-day registration is available for a higher entry fee.
A virtual 5K option allows participants to run or walk from any location at their own pace and still receive event materials. Race awards are given for first, second, and third places in Men, Women, and Children categories. Multiple sponsorship levels are offered with benefits such as logo placement and opportunities to provide participant giveaways. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
