Canal Diggers 5K : September 12, 2026
The Canal Diggers 5K is scheduled for September 12, 2026 and marks the event's 20th anniversary year. The race will start and finish at the Hibernian Club and will run through the Canal District. Organizers plan modest course updates to improve safety and will publish a revised map.
The event benefits several local charities and the Worcester Hibernian Cultural Foundation 501(c)(3). Over the past nine years the race has donated more than $52,000 to local causes.
Registration opens March 1, 2026. Published entry fees vary by date: $20 until June 15, $30 from June 16 to August 31, $35 September 1 to 3, and $40 at packet pick up on Thursday and Friday, September 4 and 5. There is no day of registration. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 600 registrants.
The 2026 event includes live music, food and drinks after the race. The entry price includes a long sleeve tee, pizza, two beverage tickets and entertainment by the Dock 10 band. Presenting sponsor information lists Mass General Brigham Health Plan and other named sponsor tiers including Winn Co, Sneakerama, Superior Waste and Rockland Trust.
A separate kids race will use an up and down route on Temple Street and will be followed by pizza and face painting. Virtual participants are invited to record a personal activity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
