Canadian Cross Country Championships : Plains of Abraham, Quebec
The Canadian Cross Country Championships take place in Quebec City on 28 and 29 November 2026. Athletics Canada and Club d’athlétisme Université Laval are the hosts. The event runs across two days and includes national championship races for multiple age categories, para and masters divisions, community races, and mixed relays.
Races and distances include:
- U16 4 km
- U18 6 km
- U20 8 km
- Open / Senior 10 km
- Para 5 km
- Masters 6 km and 8 km categories
- Community 5 km
- Kids 1 km
- Mixed relays 4 x 2 km
Eligibility and competition notes: all competing athletes must be Athletics Canada members. Only Canadian citizens or holders of a valid Canadian permanent resident card are eligible for championship medals, awards, or financial recognition. Athletes may move up one age category at Athletics Canada national championships except for Under-16. Masters competition is open to athletes aged 30 or older; residency and federation membership rules apply for non-residents.
The Para Division uses the same course as the open races with an optional route around hay bales; athletes are given 45 minutes to complete the course. A self-guided course walkthrough is scheduled for the day before competition. Accreditation and bib pick-up are organised onsite in the days surrounding the event.
