Event overview

Camuplodunum is a self-navigation road and trail event that now covers a marathon distance. The route encircles the town of Colchester and passes field paths, woodland, sea wall, prehistoric defence earthworks, a conservation valley, riverside sections and urban areas. The course was developed to marathon distance in 2023 from an earlier 25-mile boundary route conceived in 1974.

Navigation is by downloadable GPX file or by written instructions. Fully stocked aid stations and checkpoints are planned at approximately every 10 km. The event operates cupless; participants must bring their own cup or may purchase a collapsible speedcup for £2.50.
