Camuplodunum
Camuplodunum is a long-distance loop around the town of Colchester. Originally conceived in 1974 as a 25 mile route, the event in 2026 is listed at 28.6 miles and is run as a self-navigation course. The route encircles Colchester and passes through a mix of field paths, woodland, sea wall, prehistoric defence earthworks, a conservation valley, riverside and urban sections.
Navigation is provided by a GPX file or written instructions. Checkpoints and fully stocked aid stations are positioned at approximately every 10 km. The event is cupless; participants must provide their own cup. Collapsible speedcups are available for purchase on registration or on the day for £2.50 each.
The event starts and finishes at Bannatyne Gym & Spa, Kingsford Park, Layer Road, Colchester CO2 0HS. Parking and toilet facilities at the venue are free to use for the day, and the venue bars and restaurants will be open for participants and spectators. Cut-off time for the marathon distance is 7.5 hours.
Entry fees use a modular structure: a stripped-back marathon entry is available at £25.00 if participants do not choose a medal or t-shirt; extras must be selected and paid for at registration and cannot be issued additionally on the day.
