Camp Lug-A-Chug

Camp Lug-A-Chug is a weekend volunteer event organized by Go Beyond Racing in Cougar, WA. The activity focuses on carrying water into remote aid stations that support a nearby race. There is no fee to participate.

Participants hike in supplies from Marble Mountain Sno Park (lower lot). Each day's roundtrip hike in and out is about 9 miles. The event runs Saturday and Sunday and participants may take part for one day or for both days. Camping is available nearby on Friday and Saturday nights.

Organizers divide the supplies for each hike and provide food after the hike. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a large backpack, snacks, and personal water for the hike; loaner backpacks are available. Trekking poles are noted as helpful. A light competition is part of the event: a free race entry is awarded to the person who carries the most weight relative to their body weight.

The event is presented as a practical way to support aid stations and to work with other volunteers on the volcano access route. The focus is on logistical support for the race through organized hiking and supply delivery rather than on timed racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
