Camp Leavenworth 5K
Camp Leavenworth 5K is a community run and walk that begins and ends in historic downtown Leavenworth, Kansas, using closed-to-traffic roads with views from the bluffs above the Missouri River. The event includes a single 5K distance and offers medals for all finishers.
The event provides a race shirt for participants aged 18 and over; kids under 18 register free, but free children’s registrations do not include a t-shirt and shirts can be ordered at checkout. Finishers aged 21 and over receive a complimentary beer or beverage ticket. A prize purse of $350 is distributed to top finishers with $100/$50/$25 awards for the top male and female overall. Age-group awards are given in 10-year increments: 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over; awards also include top male and female stroller runners.
Children aged 14 and older may run on their own. Children younger than 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire course. Strollers are welcome and stroller riders do not need to register; the parent or guardian must register. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed except for service animals.
Practical details include two aid stations with water and Gatorade at mile 1 and mile 3, downtown parking in several free lots within a block or two of the start, and encouraged bib and shirt pickup on the Friday before the race with race morning pickup also available.
