Camp Leavenworth 5K

Event Overview

The Camp Leavenworth 5K Run & Walk is an athletic event held in Leavenworth, Kansas. Now in its fifth year, the event features a course that utilizes closed-to-traffic streets through the historic downtown area. Participants travel along the bluffs above the Missouri River, providing scenic views during the race.

Course Details

The 5 km route begins and ends at the intersection of Choctaw and S 2nd Street. The layout consists of an out-and-back north loop passing through Bob Dougherty Park. The path then continues south along S 2nd to Linn and up Elm to South Esplanade for river views before returning downhill toward the finish line. Aid stations providing water and Gatorade are located at the 1-mile and 3-mile marks.

Participation and Logistics

The race is open to runners and walkers. Strollers are permitted and have a dedicated starting division following the runners and walkers. Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed on the course, with the exception of service animals.

Registration includes a race shirt for adults and a finisher medal for all participants. Those aged 21 and older receive a beverage ticket. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a local restaurant or on the morning of the event at the start area. Free parking is available in multiple downtown lots within two blocks of the starting line.

Awards

A prize purse is awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are presented to the top finishers in 10-year age increments starting from age 14, as well as the top male and female finishers using a stroller.
