Calvin Classic 5K and Youth Fun Run
The event takes place on September 26, 2026 at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It offers both in-person and virtual participation. The 5K course is USATF certified and runs through Calvin’s scenic, relatively flat campus. All participants must be registered and wear a race number to participate.
Distances and race types:
- 5K race : 3.1 miles
- Handcycle race : 3.1 miles
- Youth Fun Run : 100 yards for ages 3 to 9
- Virtual 5K : 3.1 miles
- Virtual Youth Fun Run : roughly 100 yards to one quarter mile
Handcycle racers start just before runners and must yield if runners catch up. Walkers start just behind runners. Strollers are allowed but must stay at the back of the field. Bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and animals are not permitted on the racecourse.
Each registered participant receives a race shirt in youth or unisex sizes. Youth Fun Run participants receive a participation ribbon and a sticker. Virtual entrants receive mailed materials that include a shirt, bib, ribbon and stickers when registrations are completed in time for pre-race mailing.
No refunds are provided and event transfers are handled case by case. Race directors may cancel in the event of severe weather, emergencies or public health concerns and may transfer registrations to the virtual option. The event supports the Calvin Alumni Association.
